@Astring can you elaborate a bit more on what you're trying to achieve? Did you export a configuration file previously and want to import it on another computer?

@mb-one Our PPA now contains the latest 4.6.0 release which should fix the mentioned issues.

Simply by adding the IP addresses or hostnames of the computers in the other network. This requires proper routing to be set up such that the computer running Veyon Master can connect to each of the other computers by distinct IP addresses.

Veyon is free and Open Source so you don't have to buy a license. In case you want to use some of the commercial add-ons (such as Internet Access Control or Network Discovery) for extra functionalities, you can buy licenses for these add-ons separately.

@Deh-Castro Veyon uses system and/or domain users so simply log in with your teacher account (which in case of local users should exist on student computers as well). If you don't have domain users, consider using the key file authentication method. See https://docs.veyon.io/en/latest/admin/configuration.html#authentication-methods for more information and a comparison of both methods.

@tbuller Probably the download somehow failed? I just downloaded the file and it has a size of around 1.8 MB. Alternatively use our PPA so you benefit from automatic updates and better dependency resolving upon installation.

@tobydox Thank you for the explanation. I use "Show notification on remote connection".

Hello @erich, Veyon Master does not require any administrator rights to run. When trying with a non-admin user, did you try a local or domain user? In case of domain users, did you properly prepend the domain, i.e. MYDOMAIN\user? Did you also disable the "Perform access control" option in the master configuration (https://docs.veyon.io/en/latest/admin/reference.html#behaviour)?

Is the file readable, i.e. can you run e.g. notepad %source%\user_public_key.pem? What happens if you replace the placeholder with a qualified path?

@hammergil After much time spent trying to get veyon to work on my Ubuntu 18.04 lab, and many days and weeks with not much support, I decided to end the suffering and move on. I did find an affordable paid option that I am using right now and it works great. Not only that but I did have a few issues after first install and the developer scheduled a zoom meeting with me on the same day of purchase and we got it all ironed out. So, if you are using Ubuntu and like me are stumped. If you are looking for an affordable solution, I can recommend Classroom Spy at classroomspy.com. Does the same thing as Veyon and I think I paid a 1-time cost of $699 for 25 computers.

@gparent DNS looks OK. Try checking VeyonMaster.log, if it contains any clues. (default location: Users/<user>/AppData/Local/Temp) Based on this script, the mac format could be xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. But I think it is needed only for WOL.

Thank you very much for your interest in sharing your work! For the time being, I suggest to open an issue at https://github.com/veyon/docs/issues and attach the document there so we can review it. Even better would be to integrate it into the official documentation, e.g. by adding an Ubuntu-specific chapter in the admin manual. What do you think about it?

Veyon Master doesn't use the administrator account. The Veyon Service on client/student computers is running as the LocalSystem user which also doesn't require a profile to exist.

This might be related to an incomplete previous program update or incompatible versions of Veyon and the addons. I recommend uninstalling Veyon and reinstalling the latest version (+addons if desired).
